2003-2009 RAM: Radio/Stereo Removal and Upgrade Installation

Time: 1-2 hrs (backup camera routing)

Difficulty: moderate

Cost: $200-300 (stereo preference)

Removing the factory stereo on a 3rd generation Dodge Ram is easy with just a few screws and a snap-in trim bezel. Most aftermarket stereos have plug-and-play adapters that eliminate the need for hard wiring any connections. The most time consuming part is wiring in the backup camera, which requires running an RCA cable from the stereo to the camera location.

The stereo installed in this video is sold by TopDisplay. It has a nice factory finish and utilizes an Android platform.  Steering wheel controls all work and it has Android Auto. It doesn't come with great instructions, but it's pretty easy to figure out.

Watch the video to see the removal of the factory stereo ,and the installation of a more modern unit with integrated backup camera.
